On The Wire

Niki Jones
In markets around the world, wire-frame geometry is on-trend. It updated in mirrors at the Hong Kong Houseware fair and made vases look modern at Maison & Objet in Paris. Picture frames at Ambiente in Frankfurt made use of it, as did tables at the High Point furniture market and glassware at the New York Tabletop market.
This look is becoming equally important to shape and surface design. Its impact is being felt in almost every product category, and is being used by designers on flat and 3-D surfaces. Metal is the perfect vehicle for this look, but the range of materials utilizing it also includes ceramic, glass, fabric and more.
Here are a few photos of wire-frame looks at recent trade fairs.
